SCULPTURAL TABLE
for Strømsø Drammen. September 11 2025.

Drammen Kommune commissioned me to undertake a one year artistic research to come up with a project for Strømsø, that aims to connect segregated neighborhoods, and create meaningful connections between locals and newcomers.
In my research I took part every week in the Language kaffe organized at Frivillig Sentral where already the answer to the task was happening through Norwegian speakers volunteering to teach the language for new commers. This process of embedding myself into this small community led to tangible and intangible outcomes.
Two walks were organized with the help of Linn Marie (Frivillig sentral leader), the walks were led by sprakkaffe members, Tore who is a friend of the botanical garden showed us local plants around Stromso, and Parminder took us around historical monuments.
In parallel to the social activities Giedre from the heritage department showed me one of the oldest houses (17th centuary), just a few weeks before developers demolished it for a new highrise to be built. With the help of Giedre, some Logs from the house were saved.
These logs show historical building techniques.
Together with Wert der Dinge, (experts in Urban furniture making), the saved logs took the shape of a table, creating a space for social activities that will be organized by Frivillig sentral.
