GUERILLA GRAFFITI

To heal from trauma, your body needs to understand that the danger has passed, so you can be in the present, in the now.* In Lebanon the danger has not passed, and we adapt and live with the trouble.
After a traumatizing Civil War that lasted 15 years (1975-1990), the bitter traces of that monstrous phase can be seen until today. Those physical traces of bullets and missile holes are visible in every street on buildings, walls, shop shutters... They represent the wounds that never got a chance to heal: Brain drain / War criminals becoming politicians until today / Corruption / Lack of basic needs (electricity, water, health care...) / Series of assassinations to anyone who give us hope / Local currency losing 15 times its value and banks freezing our savings in foreign currencies / And just a year ago on the 4th of August 2020 the port explosion which killed more than 200 people, transforming the city into a ruin.
