The Shipyard!!

On the first sunny day of the residency I found the shipyard. The owner Knut was kind enough to give a tour of one of the ships being dismantled. So many things are left behind, objects in good condition such as office supplies, furniture, electronics, safety gear... When asked about their destiny, Knut says it's all thrown away.
The project became obvious to me.
I will collect as many things as I can from the ship and sell it in a charity shop in November.


Spending three days in the ship collecting materials, going from one room to another, discovering functions like the gym, solarium room, library, kitchen restaurant, engine room, office space, cinema...
and objects like cabinets for all countries, flags, detergent from Emirates, porn dvds, christmas decoration, technical equipment... It got me imagining daily routines of sailors' lives.
The project's initial idea of rescuing material to be sold and generate monetary support for Lebanon, is about care, urgency, and what art should be giving to the world.
It is also connected to healing, as I am still looking for a way to support from distance the people who are still in Lebanon fighting oppression and tyranny.

All collected objects were stored in boxes and with scotch tapes found in the ship. Smoothly tidied up, and got ready to be stored until Novembre.
